| Huis Ten Bosch palace lies in the forest north of The Hague. Originally, it was built as a summer house for Frederik Hendrik and his wife, Amalia van Solms. It was designed in the early 17th century by Pieter Post in a palladian style, following the strict rules of classicism. After the death of her husband, Amalia decided to devote the decorations in the house to him. Especially the Hall of Orange, is worth seeing. Its 18 metres high walls are completely covered with paintings about the heroic life of Frederik Hendrik. | ![]() |

Half a century later, the two arm-like side wings were added to the building and the entrance part has been changed several times. The palace has had many functions. At present, it is the residence of queen Beatrix. For this reason, allas, it cannot be visited. You can see the front from the road side and in winter you can catch a glimpse of the back side, but the rest of the building is covered in woods. |
